Shooting Star [Creative Story]
The yelling wouldn't stop,
all she wanted was a 'normal family'
one where she didn't have to hear glass shattering and cussing at 2 o'clock in the morning--on a school night.
She wished her parents would stop fighting,
but wishing was not working.
Her father was cheating, and her mom was pregnant and tired.
She was so scared
but she had become so numb to the fighting--trying to get lost in her library books.
Her grades were starting to slip, and her teachers were growing concerned.
but she would protect her family at all costs, her little sister needed her.
Her parents were good parents, really,
just this was their one downfall.
As she went to her windowsill to look at the stars and the moon,
she wished she could just fly to outer space, to get away from it all.
Then a shooting star whizzed by--her favorites,
and she heard a still, small voice whisper to her--
I see you my daughter,
everything will be Okay.
Pray for your parents,
don't lose faith--
I promise the hope of a brighter day.
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
Psalm 30:11
